this wedding was completely romantic and completely original in so many ways – stark espresso and white against beautiful lush green for the ceremony. then transition through white sheer curtains into a wonderful world of vibrant hues. my favourite part :: the dozens of handmade paper flowers and loopy long paper chains we slaved over for sheer beauty’s sake…

if you’re looking for a way to really savour your day, you can do what they did, get married in the morning and then party in the evening…so all the guests got dressed up again in the night and were treated to a beautiful party reception space against the backdrop of floating yellow petals and glowing lights, where they partied to till just before the sun rose the next day! seriously! it was a.maz.ing…

its been a while since we have shared photos from one of our events, so just wanted to show you these details from a wedding we did late last year.

the bride is a helpless romantic, my favourite kind. she loves lace, wood and “cannot have too many candles”, and the groom, let’s just say, he completely adores her, her wish is his command…

here’s a small glimpse into their special day at a hidden gem, high hope estate, in st. ann’s bay…

never too many candles, indeed. a beautiful ambience, and a little candle light glowing on your face, never hurts. *wink*

they stand out because they are beautiful images. but there is more. they resonate with my soul at a time like this when loved ones are passing away, and new ones to love come to replace sorrow with joy and fullness. there is a peacefulness about them. a beautiful hope in the sparkle. an ethereal quality in the angles chosen by the photographer, my favourite, sandor.

and since the cross represents a promise of eternal life… a chance to see those whom we have been missing…it literally fills me with peace.

thinking about it, the process of creating it was like how many of us go through life, very caught up in the details. not really appreciating the beauty of the life we have, until something forces us to step back and look at the whole. my life has been a lot like that lately. i am grateful for moments when i am forced to enjoy the beauty around me, and so blessed to be able to call that my job.

we created this cross from almost 200 hundred crystal drops, meticulously tied each one into its place, and then secured it to make sure it didn’t move or get tangled with another. it was literally hours of work and unending attention to detail. then, we wrapped it up, and handled it ever so carefully to make sure we never caused any damage before we were ready to unveil. and even then i didn’t appreciate its loveliness, in the rush of setting up an entire event.

this cross fittingly served as the backdrop of the altar we created for the prayerful bride and groom to be joined, by God, in front of their family and their friends. beautiful to imagine, even more beautiful to see.

i couldn’t resist sharing this wedding with you because the tenor of oneness and truly natural beauty resonate deeply with me. once i was sure i understood what my bride wanted i went to work and developed the design concept, and shared it with her.

i have been so encouraged by the feedback from the last post and really just in general about the work i do. creating beautiful and memorable moments is truly one of my greatest passions. to know that it is touching your lives in a special way is more than enough to move on to another moment and to trod on even through any challenging times. pussbackfoot is like a stone at the ocean’s edge. see blog post the ocean’s edge.

i love christmas. there is an intrinsic joy in the christmas season. somehow we walk around feeling lighter and brighter. i’m not sure if its because our family and friends come home, or if its all the rum in the sorrel, the cake and the pudding, or maybe its that we all get dolled up and go to the many parties going on, or if its because of the beautiful carols playing everywhere we go. but whatever it is, this time of year is a blessing, in which i hope you had the opportunity to indulge. in the midst of this busy season’s work, i am grateful i was able to do just that. i love christmas.

among my absolute favorite things this christmas were the white paper flowers i made to decorate our christmas tree. a tedious task, but so worth it, and i dragged out the experience because i so enjoyed going up to the tree to carefully place each flower, one at a time, inhaling the fresh scent of pine. this has been my favorite tree yet. so much so, it has inspired a new idea for a product offering for pussbackfoot that you will one day soon hear more about!

then there was uncle ren’s famous santa’s calypso punch! this yummy yummy yummy drink was the kick start for many a fabulous night for me. but just a warning, this drink is not for the faint but for those who want to feel giddy-headed immediately, with its extremely high rum content, nor is it for those who count their calories, with 4 tins of condensed milk as one of the main ingredients! but sooo good…and, so with uncle ren’s blessing i share his special ponche de creme recipe with you! please try it and let me know if you love it just as much as i do

ingredients

1. Six (6) Eggs 2. Peel of one lime 3. 1 Can Evaporated Milk 4. 4 Cans Condensed Milk 5. 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Essence 6. 1 26 oz (750 Ml) Bottle of Light Red Rum 7. Couple dashes of Angostura Bitters ( to taste) 8. Some grated Nutmeg when serving

method

1. Beat eggs and lime peel until light and fluffy 2. Add 2 cans of condensed milk slowly while still blending. 3. Add the can of Evaporated Milk slowly while still blending. 4. Add the remaing cans of Condensed Milk slowly while still blending. 5. Gradually add the RUM 6. Add the Vanilla Essence and Bitters. 7. Remove Lime Peel – bottle. 8. Serve over crushed ice with a sprinkle of grated Nutmeg
